Thank you! Me too, I've started to step away because this stuff is so frustrating 😔 I thought fan communities would've changed by now..

I also think people feel the need to "punish" female characters for being bad in fan content (fics and art of them getting assaulted, killed and cheated on, etc.) and constantly convince people not to like them. But don't have the same motivation for male villains/morally grey characters

And why male villains are generally accepted or framed as being "misunderstood", if they don't have a sad backstory, fans will develop one for them. Even if they are unredeemable, people will still think they are.... cool. I think it's okay to like villains (obviously), but there's an obvious bias
