like, if you have a sandwich that has a bunch of other ingredients but has 5-8 slices of cheese, the cheese is still the main ingredient. if you are still toasting/grilling it, its still a grilled cheese. But if your ratio of cheese and other ingredients is balanced, then its a melt.

if you use a base of bread and at least 2 slices of cheese, then its still a grilled cheese, if you add a hamburger, then its a melt. If you add enough ingredients, it becomes a melt instead of a grilled cheese, but if the main component that you taste is cheese, then its still a grilled cheese.
