Even though Ratio is often viewed as harsh with his words, his fundamental character is rather soft in nature, he stresses being patient with oneself, he encourages free thinking and wants people to walk their own path. He encourages people to change their perspective and thoughts for the better.

Also, do note that his diamond shaped patterns are different from the triangular patterns every stoneheart has so far. In fact, you can only find this triangular pattern on his socks, which are only visible in his splash art.

These angular and intersecting lines often represent complexity, edginess and rigidness. This design element is also present on the sleeves of his pyjamas, so it's probably meant to be a recurrent theme.

I mean, we saw what happened when Aven was met with Ratio's care in a way that was impossible for him to deny, which was with Ratio's note. It helped him realize, alongside Acheron's words, that there's actually a reason to keep living and that someone truly cares for him.

Aven told the TB, "it's only by casting aside reason does one truly gamble." And besides the fact that Ratio's name is Latin for reason, I think this line can apply to Ratio as well because Aven has been pushing his concern for him away the entire time in Penacony, and as a result casting him aside.

Reminds me of the phrase he told the TB when they fought: "It's only by casting aside reason does one truly gamble." Although I think it's unrelated, I still find it can be a double meaning for him trying to cast aside Ratio (reason) in order to gamble. I'll expand on this in another thread.

Another thing was his conversation with future Aven. When he said "all the better for you" when he mentioned that Ratio wasn't acting. From my perspective, I believe he meant that it would be better for him if Ratio wasn't acting with his distain towards him and/or the betrayal.

In fact, we know for sure that he does not want Ratio to hate him. We've seen him multiple times express sadness or annoyance at the mere thought of Ratio not liking him, which we have not seen him do with others. It's obvious that Aven likes Ratio and therefore wants Ratio to like him as well.

You know, as far as I can remember, the only time we've seem Aventurine have a soft and genuine smile on his face was with little Kakavasha and after reading Ratio's note.
