Well, based on this @brodierobertson.xyz video, it sounds like already there are quite a few who don't really want to embrace it, and, regardless of whatever policy doc they come up with, maintainers will hopefully still be able to say no.

went back and looked, and found this article that says they're currently using ai to determine what patches should be backported, and a 1st draft policy document on ai usage will be presented at a december conference. guess we'll have to see
