can I call it underrated when I’m only finally posting it? …maybe not, but I am! I think my most underrated piece is this dimitri & hubert fic I wrote way back for the Hubert Zine, and it’s finally on AO3 thanks to this event!

"Chamomile," Hubert repeats, unsure of what more to say. He's never been particularly good with people, nor has he ever entirely understood the appeal of things like small talk and shallow friendships. Dimitri doesn't make it any easier. King of Faerghus and once-sworn enemy of Her Majesty and the empire, there's no reason he and Hubert should be seated across from each other as well-intentioned comrades. At their very cores they're misaligned and, if Hubert had his way, Dimitri would have been dead the moment he stepped foot in Enbarr. But Edelgard is a forgiving emperor, and if it is her wish to reach out her hand to Dimitri, Hubert has no right to stand in her way. As the nations of Fodian begin an alliance, Hubert makes it his business to keep an eye on his former enemy: Dimitri, King of Faerghus. Through a failed friendship scheme, he might realize they have more in common than he expected.

Sacred Seiros, highest glory— a blessing to surpass siblings mine. Sing me a song of blood betrayal, ninth-born, but first-in-line. *** Carved from marble, goddess worshipped, below the palace burnt alive. Furnaces of dark within that crypt where I knew that I would die. Where I'd only seen the youngest once while he was being dragged away. The first to succumb to cold and fear as the sun dimmed on our first day. Where screams burnt out and laughter echoed from the girl who'd meet her end when a cruel man took her feeble spirit— the eldest thrown aside again.

He always takes so long to answer her less-nuanced questions, shaping cold facts into niceties with his forked tongue until he thinks they'll hurt Aerith less. He's always been a real coward. "Shinra doesn't know you're here," he says. "I haven't told anyone." "You're Shinra," she argues. "And you're not supposed to let me leave, are you?" "It wouldn't be the first time I've broken a rule for you." In pursuit of Zack and freedom from subjugation under Shira, Aerith attempts to escape from Midgar. Tseng's presence makes that easier said than done.

foolish one sailorartemis Summary: The night after saving Innes in Carcino, Tana attempts to do two things she knows she isn't very good at—keeping her stubborn brother in line and discussing strategy with Erika for their impending journey into the mountains. And then, the third thing that she won't even admit to: being in love with a princess "If you'd just hold still, I'd be done with this already, Innes." Tana doesn't need to look up to know exactly what face her brother is making, his eyes narrowed and lips stubbornly pulled in a tight line, refusing to dignify her comment by arguing back. He wrests his injured arm away again and she has to bite back the urge to call him childish for it; that would make him argue, and after the uphill battle that was rescuing him from Pablo's men, Tana has no energy to argue back. "You're so annoying." She huffs and sharply tugs the dangling fabric of his half-applied sling to pull his arm back into reach. Innes only grunts in response. “If it weren't for me always dragging you to get help, you'd have lost use of your bow arm years ago."
