Family of 4. Canadian /Australians. Currently, in the Caribbean & headed west across the Pacific.
Sailing & enjoying life
I wish we had a not so little pufferfish friend like this cutie to follow us as we sailed.

This one makes us smile every time we see them.

This one seems to be a Spot Fin Porcupine Pufferfish

We put up our decals.... only took about 9 months

Happy not to have them being bumped around in the boat anymore

Columbia gets a really bad wrap. It's a more technical area to sail compared with some places in the Caribbean, but you do research & pick your weather
As for the country itself, it has a bad reputation by many, but honestly seems unjustified.
It's a bit of a change of pace & awesome for it

Columbia is lovely.

We are at Santa Marta Marina & it's really nice.

We have access to laundry facilities for FREE no more hand washing whilst here.

We found a delicious cooked chicken for $7CAD

Our Spanish is limited but so happy to be in Columbia.

The entry tax for Canadians sucked though

Approaching Santa Marta

The "buddy boat" we had went close to shore & had a terrible run. We went out 40nm & had no need for engine

No huge issues with weather, some moments of sporty/ spiciness but overall an amazing sail.

This is Santa Marta Columbia

The bioluminescence display last night was wonderful. Could see big fish & lots of flying fish, one which jumped & hit my face 😜
The moon came out & seas settled a little
This morning, we had a huge pod of dolphins say hi, who may out may not have appreciated us giving them some dead flying fish
March 20, 2025 at 12:45 PM
Our buddy boat is closer to shore, where we can see lightning. Wishing LunaSea safe passage, as we come in from further out.

Going to be a long night 🌙

Sunset off the coast of Columbia

Sail is getting "spicy"

80nm to go to Santa Marta

Reefed in. Boat has been tossed better than most garden salads
March 19, 2025 at 11:03 PM
Different timezone in Columbia half our devices updated automatically some did not, we went with the majority but damn that was confusing as we did a shift change 😂😅

One of us was adamant it was still their watch at the time, even though another hour would've sucked... 😂😅
March 19, 2025 at 2:30 PM
Almost past Venezuela

137nm in 24hrs (impressive given we've only done 3 knots an hour for the last 6 haha)

Another long night ahead, with the cape being our next event on this passage

We were going to stay a bit longer. We love Curaçao so much. Weather is weather though & this craptastic passage to Santa Marta has a not too bad weather window now, so here we are, underway.

Sailing is so dependant on weather, sometimes you just have to go....

Tugboat Beach Curaçao

Definitely worth a look. I never would've ever thought an oil drill rig site would have such wonderful sea life nearby, even though we knew of its existence.

Looking forward to visiting it again, maybe after some school work on Monday

The floating bridge
of Willemstad

The customs office is on the far left

Sunrise with Curacao
March 12, 2025 at 10:29 AM
Geoff is still asleep in the cockpit as I keep watch (thank goodness for autohelm).

The moon just disappeared, so it's kinda dark. In an hour, it'll be sunrise.

There's a few boats out here waiting for the sun to rise & then to come into shore, including a large cruise ship.
March 12, 2025 at 9:50 AM
Off the coast of Curacao now

3.26am, slowly moving towards Willemstad
March 12, 2025 at 7:29 AM
We will arrive in less than 24hrs to Curacao

Reefed in, but don't want to lose too much speed. Likely going to heave to closer to Curacao then navigate through Spanish waters & do check in

Nice sail, but also tired
March 11, 2025 at 3:40 PM
Waxing Gibbous has been nice to sail with at night

Around noon AST we will be almost 48hrs & should be about half way to Curacao
March 10, 2025 at 2:11 PM
Sunrise this morning

Headed to Curacao but wind had us change course slightly towards Bonaire 😂

Just over 20 hrs down...
March 9, 2025 at 1:01 PM
Hand should give you an idea of size.

Check out this massive Hermit Crab we found at Norman Island in the BVI'S

For the record, the conch shell did not have a hole in it....
March 8, 2025 at 12:00 AM
Coming into Road Town to do check out....

Floating debris, like chip packet, a few big branches, leaves & floating turds.....

Ahhh coming into major ports is such a delight sometimes....

Non sailors wonder why we don't swim near ports & marinas... 😅

Last swim together this morning

Saying goodbye to more friends today as we get closer to leaving the Caribbean

You meet lots of people along the way & some of them become wonderful friends.

This goodbye was really hard for all of us
March 6, 2025 at 10:15 PM
It looks a little small compared to all the big Catamarans you see, but it's home.

We didn't quite plan to leave the BVI so soon.

Saying goodbye to everyone is hard. Two families left today & we are about to go our separate ways from another.
March 4, 2025 at 10:58 PM
We have our weather window!!!

The next one will be a 4 day passage.
March 4, 2025 at 8:15 PM
It just needs a bit smiley mouth underneath & some pupils....

We did a walk & saw some ruins today with 3 other kid boats

Peter Island, BVI's
