It's kind of awesome how much Megaten as a series intro'd me to non-abrahamic religious influences in media just by virtue of how they're structured. I was definitely unable to parse a lot of the Hindu/Buddhist concepts when I first played it in 2007, but examining it later was pretty fascinating

Probably because it was the only Megaten game to sell very poorly in Japan (which for the longest time was their metric for success considering how niche the series was until P5)

as someone whose mother was one of the most avid PvP players at the time, I'm pretty sure an ice mage moving while casting was a burning crusade player's worst possible nightmare
