Rolled credits on Shinobi: Art of Vengeance this morning. Aside from the last couple of levels leaning a little too much into insta-death platforming segments in place of tough combat encounters, an absolute blast from start to finish. Some of the most satisfying action I've played in a 2D game.

He also has clear contempt for any rules of engagement or humanity, so he definitely wants The Troops to act like ruthless, bloodthirsty psychopaths - a very obvious (though inaccurate) Viking stereotype - but he wants them to look squeaky clean while doing it. Very funny hangups combo going on.

I realize I'm double qting but the other book(s) that changed me was the Lord of the Rings trilogy. My family took turns reading it to each other when we went on a month-long camper trip out to California and back and it was probably THE formative text of my childhood.

I loved the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark collection but this YA novel (which I read when I was probably still too young) by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor (of Shiloh fame) hooked me on ghost stories for life. It's still my favorite genre of horror fiction, and this probably why.
