There's inspiring stuff as well. The 1967 revolution that forced the British out of South Yemen. The 1962 revolution that overthrew North Yemen's theocratic Zaydi Imamate (which the Houthis are trying to restore). For a time it looked like Yemen would be the success story of the Arab Uprisings.

Basically, don't transit the Red Sea during the day. Don't turn your AIS off because then rescue becomes an issue and be aware that there is at least one Iranian IRGC Navy spy ship south west of Hodeidah, Yemen...

The 1948 Nakba destabilized Lebanese politics for half a century, helped topple the pro-West monarchy in Egypt, and directly resulted in the assassination of Jordan's pro-Western King Abdullah I

Biden would be wise to remember all this in considering Israel's attempt to ethnically cleanse Gaza

"Why Are the Houthis Attacking?" articles are a dime a dozen these days, but here's one I authored for FPRI

In it I provide an overview of the tactics the Houthis have used during the Gaza crisis, these tactics' history in Yemen, & the multiple factors driving the Houthi escalation on Gaza

The Houthis took over Yemen and its military institutions in 2014, it was easy for Iran to provide them w drones and rockets. They were defeated in South Yemen in 2015 and were very close to defeat in the North but the UN U.S. + other western countries came to their rescue w the Stockholm Agreement.

Why Hasn’t The U.S. Struck Back After Red Sea Anti-Ship Attacks?
Many are calling for strikes on Houthi forces after multiple anti-ship attacks off Yemen’s coast, but is that really the best option?
