Also, something I'm really excited to offer is an online creative writing course, open to anyone and everyone of all experience and writing ability. This is something I've wanted to do for a long time within fandom, to build community and constructive feedback spaces.
Also offering: Online Creative Writing Course 0.5 - 1 hour = $75 2.5 hours = $100 The goal of these courses will be to build community, learn how to identify "good" writing, study craft elements through writing exercises and reading assignments, and receive feedback on current writing projects. These courses will be offered weekly in the evenings, with synchronous or asynchronous elements as needed. 0.5-1 hour sessions will be one-on-one feedback-centered conferences. 2.5 hour sessions will be workshop style group classes. Experience: I am the author of two poetry chapbooks, the founding editor-in-chief of Saga City magazine, and a literature teacher of 5+ years. I have a long background in fanfiction, poetry, and teaching creative writing, as well as a deep love for queer retellings and an affinity for the strange and mythological. haven't updated this kirideku fic in quite a few years because That Is How The World Is These Days but I looked back at the last chapter and I am not afraid to say this is some of my favorite writing I've done for a fanfiction. slipped in some big ideas about queerness and love, as I like to do :)
Most people who know about the particular nature of his and Midoriya’s open relationship tend to guess that Midoriya is the one who runs things since he’s the one who has more sexual partners. And it’s true, his boyfriend likes to sleep around. But what the heteronornative monogamous minds of their classmates can’t wrap around is the amount of trust and communication that kind of activity outside Shouto and Midoriya’s own partnership requires. Really, Midoriya hardly actually sleeps with anyone else, he’s so committed to maintaining his relationship with Shouto. He has his partners he likes to fool around with, of course, but more often it’s them who come to Midoriya. More often than not, Midoriya and Shouto spend most of their time together simply because they love being together, and that’s enough for both of them. But the reputation of their open relationship, naturally, got ahead of them. When you’re dealing with a bunch of pearl-clutching cis-het people, that tends to happen. And from there the story of it became what others said, not Shouto or Midoriya, and they didn’t bother trying to correct the pearl-clutchers, since neither of them cared. Shouto considers this assessment as he gently strokes his hand through Midoriya’s thick curls. Maybe that'’s not fair. He knows half his classmates are some kind of queer, whether they’re fucking around with gender or sexuality. On the mornings when they all gather together in the common area and Sero is still without his binder after sleeping, he and Sero will give each other a look that passes beyond simple understanding. It’s a recognition, a kind of seeing and being seen most of his cis classmates can’t begin to understand. Or he’ll meet eyes with Kaminari and they’ll share a smile and a nod, because maybe that day Shinsou is joining them for breakfast, and he’s got his hand resting gently in Kaminari’s smaller palm. And it shouldn’t have to be a brave act these days but it is, it still is, it always will be, to be a boy and hold the hand of your boyfriend in public. Shouto knows Jirou likes to dress in clothes from the menswear section and sometimes wears a binder but still calls herself a girl. He knows Iida and Uraraka are dating but has seen the way Uraraka looks at Tsu. He knows Tokoyami is ace but hasn’t told anyone except Shoji and Midoriya, and he knows Shoji wants to date Tokoyami but is struggling with the idea of having his own sexual needs met, so he’s talking with Midoriya and Bakugou about it. He knows Bakugou is demi. He knows Bakugou was or is or always will be a little in love with Midoriya. He knows Midoriya was in love with Bakugou, once. Shouto knows this, and he sometimes feels scared. But he also knows how fiercely Bakugou bellowed at an underclassman the first time someone mentioned how “weird” Shouto and Midoriya were. How Bakugou planted himself bodily between Shouto and this stranger who wanted to pry, and declared that anyone who had issues with Shouto and Midoriya could meet the business end of his explosive fists. Shouto knows that Bakugou would burn down the world for him and Midoriya if they asked him to, he was so devoted to and protective of them. So much of love and desire is too complicated and messy and painful and joyous and heartbreaking and healing to be simplified into right or wrong, good or bad. People have desires, and they find the people with whom they can explore those desires. That’s the world, the real world of messy, unhinged want that grips you savagely by the throat and shakes you like a dog until you have no choice but to submit to it, to surrender to the enthralling power love can hold over you. He runs his warm hand through Midoriya’s curls, scratching lightly at the crown of his head. His cool hand he lets Midoriya fiddle with in his crooked fingers. Midoriya holds his smaller hand against Shouto’s, rubs his long, slender fingers, then holds Shouto’s cool palm to his cheek. Shouto smiles at him. Midoriya’s back rests against Shouto’s front as he basically lies on top of him on the couch. He leans forward and presses his lips to the top of Midoriya’s head, kissing him. “What are you doing?” he says. “Loving you,” is all Midoriya says, and that’s all Shouto has ever wanted to hear. He lifts the hand that Midoriya isn’t loving on and raises it over his head. He curls one finger in a come here gesture. Then he lets it drift back down to rest in Midoriya’s thick curls. There’s the sound of a plate clattering into the sink over the voices of their classmates in the kitchen. Then Bakugou appears beside them, leaning over the back of the couch to glare down at Shouto. “Whaddya want?” he says. “I think,” Shouto says, “we should all jump Kirishima together.” Midoriya—sex fiend that he is—chokes, flustered, and Shouto can feel him growing warm in embarrassment. Bakugou’s familiar scowl just gets more scowly. “You high or somethin?” he snaps. “No,” Shouto says. “Well, not right now.”
