To exist as Black and Brown people in this day and age is to normalise and endure harassment, violence, and discrimination on a daily basis, at any given moment, under a policing state.

My most insufferable trait as someone from an African country is to perform flamboyant shock at how much you have to pay in cities like NY and London and not even a whole garden to kick a ball in!

It feels so refreshing to be on this app, like I’m breaking up with a long relationship with the toxic X platform. I’ll miss it. I started back in 2011, at the height of the Arab Spring, and I remember being in Egypt, following both the protests there and the riots unfolding back in the UK.

I only felt that the world could change once I decentered the West, moved back to the 🌍, decolonised my audience, and reminded myself that our ancestors re-imagined new worlds under far worse circumstances so we can do the same.
