As it is budget day - this is the one thing that would really help me as a single mother and disabled with an end stage disease. I live in a 3 bed, 1950’s house.
Standing charge is crippling to low users.
Surely this is where bi business could take the weight?

What a country we have become when masses of people are celebrating the govt punching down on the most vulnerable members of society - disabled people. Are they aware this also affects recipients of war pensions etc.

One of the most shameful incidents of WW2 was when the government and press scapegoated refugees, then decided to pack them off an a cramped ship, The HMT DUNERA and ship them to Australia.

As they boarded the boat they were stripped of the valuables and robbed by the guards.

Now government policy

Here is an illustration of how the Standing Charge affects low users. I have. 3 bedroom house built in the 1950’s, semi detached. The average consumption is Gas -1200 kWh and Elec is 2700 kWh. I use 6000 kWh Gas & 1600 kWh Elec.
SC is a 1/3 of my cost.

Oh after years of the Right screaming at the top of their voices that the UK should look after their own - they come for one of the most marginalised groups in society the Disabled.

Yes thank you.

Worth every penny.

My daughter is pregnant and her sister and best friend are organising the “baby shower”. The most wonderful thing is we are all to bring books that we all adored from our childhood.
This makes me so joyous - catch them young and you have them for life.

As this Motability debate rages on. I cannot be the only person who would swop every penny of my award to have my full health restored before I became disabled. I would give up every penny to be out of pain and able bodied. PIP is no consolation or recompense.

I don’t often discusses criminal sentences but I am surprised at those for the two convicted of the manslaughter of Bhim Kholi. I am also surprised the racist side of the attack was not highlighted more and increased the punishment.

How many people,
especially the plastic Patriots, realise that WWII didn’t end on May 8th 1945? For many on the Pacific Front it was to continue for another 3 months. It irks me that VJ Day is rarely commemorated and when it is is lumped in with VE Day.

Those who are voting for Mark Carney consider him the best person to run Canada’s government. They respect his abilities.

Those who are voting for Pierre Poilievre share his prejudices. They hate the same people he hates.

A little story in equal parts numerous and shocking.
Yesterday I had a consultant appt and knew I would subsequently need a blood test - so pre booked my appt at phlebotomy.
Walking towards the Phl dept it was clear it was busy - it mostly always is.
