Over 15% of all construction workers in the United States have a drug or alcohol problem - it's a serious issue, but it isn't necessarily easy to talk about. That said, failing to shed light on substance abuse can lead to permanent consequences on and off the job site.

Crane and rigging operations are already complicated — how about throwing in a pane of glass?

One gust of wind or slight shift in load balance, and you've got a serious problem on your hands. Every lift like this needs to start with a solid plan.

From a "let's have a fun, goofy time" perspective, this looks like a good replacement for throwing back a few cold ones and hopping onto a mechanical bull.

From a "let's go home with our fingers and toes" perspective, it's probably a great way to set a record for getting kicked off the job site.

Valiant effort? Sure. Big dumb? Oh yeah.

A truck is a big investment, but from a safety perspective, getting anywhere a flaming tanker is a recipe for disaster. In this situation, it would be much smarter to wait for emergency responders — even if it means losing your truck.

Sick of sweeping off the steps? Dry ice blasting could be a great housekeeping tool... with a chilly edge.

The way this works is by firing dry ice pellets, which collide with grime and quickly expand, basically exploding off debris. Efficient, but it still poses a safety hazard.

When is checking your phone more important than watching the road? Not this situation, that's for sure.

Whether you're driving on or off the job site, a distracted driver is a dangerous driver. In this example, putting the phone down could've protected the truck, materials, and this guy's job.

Everyone knows to lift with their legs and not their back, but that's not the only way to prevent repetitive stress back injuries. A hurt back can affect your ability to get the job done, and could lead to serious, permanent health conditions.

It's just some molten fruit by the foot, what could go wrong.

It's a little nerve-wracking watching that hot metal whip around while workers are stepping over it. One wrong move could mean some serious burns.

How would you make this operation less risky? Let us know in the comments!

Sunbok You was talking with his workers when he stepped into the roadway and was hit by a forklift. The operator didn't see him because he was on his phone. After the impact, the driver fled the scene.

Everything here checks out until you get a new perspective.

Look — There's nothing wrong with using a lift here. It's perfectly safe and way more stable than a ladder. But lifting it with a forklift could cause some serious injuries if the whole thing comes crashing down.

Pretty cool trick, as long as the trench doesn't collapse.

When you're operating heavy machinery, attempting a tricky maneuver like hopping a gap could cause damage to the vehicle or nearby environment. Just because you can do it doesn't mean it's the smartest option.
