I would like to know who even has paid “vacation” days anymore. For almost 30 years we have had “paid time bank,” which is vacation, sick time, go your kids’ parent-teacher conference time, and yes, stay in bed and sleep time.

We got ours at the fairgrounds; national guard troops administered the vaccines. It was drive-through, we got the shots through the car windows, and then the county sheriffs let us know when we were good to drive home.

Raising water levels mostly washes out obstacles that require actual kayaking skills. So basically they wanted to kayak a lake rather than a river? If so, why didn’t they just kayak the lake?

Apparently some people aren’t going to think you’ve “cooked” a sausage unless you also killed and butchered the pig.

There is no excuse for this kind of neglect, which often ends up with pets dying from lack of food or water. I understand if people cannot take their pets, but abandoning them is cruel, and also a crime in many states.

Suicide attacks were a method of “modern warfare” in WWII, and probably well before that.

There is an income cap for receiving disability benefits. They can’t survive without those benefits, but in some states working a full year at minimum wage puts you over the cap. So you can’t only work part time. Some people would be better off working more hours for less money to stay below the cap

Until or unless he can make enough money not to need his disability benefits, he’s better off making little enough money to be able to keep them and also not feel like he’s been fired partway through every year. The system is too broken to be fixed by any simple change.

One guy tells me sadly every year that he’s been fired and doesn’t understand why. He hasn’t been fired. He is really good at his job. He is also developmentally disabled and really needs the extra help he gets being on disability.

Unfortunately, the extra money they make isn’t enough to make up for the loss of those benefits. So they are worse off working full time. Also worse off being paid more, because they don’t understand why they can’t go to work anymore after some point.

This is more complicated than it seems. In WA, which has a very high minimum wage, I personally know disabled people who can only work part of the year because otherwise they make too much money to keep their disability benefits.

It may actually be a combination of the two, as many federal grants are matching funds. If the locality can’t raise its share, the federal funds are not provided. All kinds of projects are funded, or not, this way.

Second, that the county has tried to fun warning systems but the citizens will not vote to spend tax dollars that way, or will not vote sufficient funding for systems.
