The Rust Project Goals is the annual process for setting the high level direction of the project and do some matchmaking to find the right engineers to work on the right problems. And this year Safety-Critical Rust is hoping to be involved!

The good news is that there's a fair amount of overlap between the different safety-critical regulatory standards

The bad news is that they are not the same, and so we need to consider this in our work

The reality is that IEC 61508:2010 (Industrial) is the "parent" of these other safety-critical regulatory standards for different industries:
- ISO 26262:2018 (Automotive)
- DO-178C/ED-12C (Aerospace)
- IEC 62304:2006 + AMD 1:2015

Safety-critical systems are those which may cause:
- death or serious injury to people
- loss or severe damage to equipment/property
- environmental harm
