Dad of 7 lush kids. Massive Lads Fan although don’t get to matches regularly (see the aforementioned 7 kids!). Here just for the #SAFC craic.
I started supporting the lads in 1993, and there have been a lot more downs than ups in that time. Certainly this team is in the top 3 we have had in the last 30 years. That’s Steve Bruce team you mentioned before Bent left was exciting, but you are right, they were dire for half of that year.

Yeah I think there was, we narrowly missed out on Europe two season in a row, that would have been the biggest achievement since 73. Current squad is exciting, and I think a number of them will play in Europe, but unfortunately I don’t think it will be with us. Maybe a future generation….

The problem is what is stopping them just moving here too? These people clearly are trying to compensate for stuff in their sad little lives by abusing strangers on social media where there is no consequence for their actions, surely they will just follow where the people they want to abuse are?

….yes the style was more direct, so were most teams then (Man Utd winning the treble with 4-4-2 and wingers throwing crosses into the box), but it was certainly exciting to watch. Recent years were have probably played prettier football, so it just depends on your definition I guess 🤷♂️

I guess it’s whether you are excited by style of play or by winning. It’s great if you can do both, but in the 99-00 and 00-01 seasons it was exciting because we were going toe to toe with big teams and fighting for European football. …..

Reid’s team of 1999-2001 were competing at the top end of the Premier league, so we are still a way off that quality. But this team certainly does have exciting potential.

Interesting that in all the discussion about who plays against Millwall, and in Mundle’s absence, not one person has mentioned Bennette. Shows how far out of the picture he is now…

This is what I would play, but I think Alese will be fit and would start ahead of Hjelde

I think he will go 3 at the back, just for Millwall. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Aji back and I would then play Luke at RWB. Aleksic at 10 and Isidor and Mayenda up front
