Chasing aurora mostly depends on the local weather. Iceland at Night website now not only features the most accurate cloud cover forecast by the Icelandic Met Office, but two satellite views in near real time. An extremely useful feature for aurora chasers in Iceland. Check it out!

Last night was quiet, as expected. We saw faint aurora that got slightly brighter throughout the night, as seen in the image taken from Geysir area. Tonight will likely be very similar. Clear skies in many places. Keep an eye on the cloud cover forecast and space weather data on our website.

Last night (August 9) in Iceland. Beautiful Northern Lights can be seen in deep twilight, shortly after midnight. This bodes well for those brave enough to travel for the eclipse next year.
