so anyway, we’re wondering what the best thing to do here is, do we just leave it be and forget about it or do we continue keeping our eye on him and making a point of scanning for a microchip each time before attempting once again to catch him and take him to a vet/claim him?

-also claimed that he’s always inside and never outside which was also known not to be true from all the times we’ve seen him and from when we asked around neighbours have also said he’s always out and about.

she was adamant he belonged to her and that he was chipped even though we knew for a FACT he wasn’t and-

i put him down and he didn’t move away from me but then she came and grabbed him and that was when was actually trying to get away and she got defensive and was like ‘what have you done to him???’.

but then this woman appeared and straight away was very rude and asking what the hell we were doing and what we were doing with her cat and started saying ‘he doesn’t like you’ and ‘he’s clearly trying to get away from you’.

i’ve had hold of him multiple times as well before this point, and each time he would snuggle right in and get comfortable and had no problem being held by me.

we went and found him once more but this time with the plan to catch him, so we fed him and scanned him again with the same results of having no microchip so picked him up and was ready to put him in the car.

we managed to scan him and it came up with no tag and we did this multiple times and each time no microchip was detected, so with that along with the other points as well as asking around we agreed he’s either definitely a stray or has owners that don’t care about him that much.
