Came home after a day of shopping to find our new alarm blaring. Called the furnace guy who had just installed it less than a month earlier. Took it apart to find a small bit of residue where a weld was bad. Fire department said if we'd gone to bed, none of would have woken up.

What a great thread! I've read so many of these, and now have far too many to add to my TBR pile. Recommend anything by David McCullough, Hampton Sides, Erik Larson and Barbara Tuchman. Great storytellers all!

this line: "appears to be an AI-generated image of him and Trump holding up a Nobel Prize on the floor of Congress, surrounded by America’s Founding Fathers."

Appears to be an AI image?? I know Trump's old, but doubt the Founding Fathers were on hand to slap him on the back and say "next time!"

It's true: Their emotional and intellectual maturity ended in the 6th grade. They're bullies, deeply insecure, very thin-skinned, always looking for the insult, and deperately needing to be noticed -- rather than laughed at -- by girls. And now they feel secure enough in a crowd to do it again.

Irony is dead for all of MAGA. You would expect him to be outraged if he saw his wife as Indian rather than as an appendage. She is simply the mother of his children but they are "her children" rather than theirs, which he weirdly labeled them. Remember? tinyurl.com/3f2x3vrw
A Conversation With JD Vance
The Republican vice-presidential candidate rejects the idea that he’s changed, defends his rhetoric and still won’t say if Trump lost in 2020.
