Prompts thirteen and fourteen: Robot whale and Lift
Two March of Robots drawings in an eight page folded zine. On the left-hand side is a drawing of a robot humpback whale in the midground, a real one in the foreground, and three distant small silhouettes in the background. Does the robot whale mostly look like a whale with lines drawn on? Yes. But I do like the idea of a robot whale being sent out to monitor the whale population and the real whales knowing it’s not a real whale but singing to it anyway. SO. On the right-hand page is the prompt lift, with one robot lifting a third posed like one of them French girls and it has sparkles around its head. A third robot is down in the bottom corner being excited about this.

Prompts eleven and twelve: Knight & Squire and Moon Jellies
Two March of Robots drawings. On the left-hand page for Knight & Squire, there’s a clock on the wall with a pendulum, and a knight robot leaning over a pool table. No pool balls are in sight, but a smaller squire robot is partly obscured by the knight’s extended arm, and they are holding their own pool cue (is that what they’re called? I don’t play pool. Apologies to all pool players). On the right-hand page for ‘moon jellies’, there’s a blocky robot wandering between shelves of books with moon jellyfish floating between the shelves. Not obvious in this pic but they’re intended to be small nanobot swarms that assist with research by bringing relevant books to you.

Prompts nine and ten: Tea time and Boat captain
Two March of Robots drawings. On the left-hand page, a drawing of a one eyed robot with their cheek propped up on one fist, and a fingertip touching the top of a robot on the table that’s meant for warming your cup of tra. On the table are a teapot, a large plate of doughnuts, two separate plates with a donut each, a cup of tea closer to the viewer, and a table runner with a diamond pattern split in the middle by a line for ‘tea time’. On the right-hand page is a drawing of a little robot in a cap carefully lowering a toy boat towards the bath water which has an upside down reflection of a moustachioed robot at the wheel for a ship. Behind the little robot is the bathroom counter and sink and a towel rail. This one is for the prompt ‘boat captain’.

Prompts five and six: A cat you can pet and pictures of ducks.
Two pages in an eight page zine. On the left-hand page is a drawing of a group of robots; a tall one with only a cone body and head, a crouching skinny one with a large screen head that’s reaching out to pet the cat sleeping on a Roomba-like robot, and a cluster of three tiny egg-ish robots with large lenses on them and tiny antennae on top of their heads for the prompt ‘a cat you can pet’. Prompts three and four: “He can take apart your engine if you ask” and free books
A picture of two pages in an eight page zine. On the left-hand page is a drawing of a robot with fingertips steepled and a smiling face screen. On the table in front of it is a piece of paper that simply says ‘sign here’ and has a line underneath that, and a pen on the side. The robot is dark except for its white neck, forearms, joints, and hands. Lines in the back leave a triangle of negative space behind the robot, and at the top is the prompt phrase “he can take apart your engine if you ask”. On the right-hand page is the prompt ‘free books’, with a simple robot that has an ereader-like main body that has an icon of a book and ‘opening library ….’ under it. The robot is balanced on a single wheel and has two long arms.

So keeping in mind I came up with a prompt list with friends, here’s one and two: Tongs and Digger
The first two pages of the eight page zine. On the left is the ‘tongs’ prompt (written on page), with a skinny robot lacking arms but having a rounded head with a large lens taking up the facial area and some delicate antennae pointing backwards. The long skinny legs are where the tongs inspiration led. There are dangling sensor-wires falling down behind it like a cape as it leans forward. On the right-hand page is a drawing of a boxy robot with hydraulic arms that’s an answer to the ‘digger’ prompt (written on page). Its visual sensors are in the middle section of the main body, and it has treads extended from the main body. There’s a hole in front of it and a pile of dirt behind.
