Surely if you have to make a statement that a speech is ‘completely different’ to Enoch Powell’s you are dangerously too close

Love the idea of a ‘so what’ report asking what is the ultimate impact of what you are trying to achieve (for Lloyds it’s how does this make things better for our clients.

And don’t be a data addict - remember it’s not about how much you have but whether you can generate wisdom from it.

Folks can get a bit judgy about using slides, thinking being able to simply talk is the best form of presentation but when we are learning something new, visuals + humour + metaphor help us remember. My team was able to remember all four of the core principles thanks to these.

Now a discussion of average - a useful metric but could be very misleading

We see this often with belonging / engagement data. You can have one group feeling fantastic and another group having a terrible time.

Especially an issue if your underrepresented folks are… well…underrepresented

Goals for the session 1) think about data differently when you leave, as a language and 2) not to take notes but to listen to each other and play a game!

Next up Zsolt Olah Data literacy - the essential skill for L&D today.

Zsolt reminding people when they come in that there is no AI here and yes there is relief at getting a break from it

So what is L&D using it for? Mostly learning design task, content creation but not the most valuable things like performance support. Why? That gets more complex with more stakeholders.

Getting ready to kick off AI in L&D with a full house!

Lots of people want to know where we are, what’s changing and what we should do.

We’ll be hearing from Egle Vinauskaite and Markus Bernhardt, chaired by Don Taylor himself.

Had a fab day yesterday at Learning Technologies with the rest of the social media team.

Yesterday was organisational network analysis and self directed learning.

Today it will be A&I in L&D (#T1S4) and Data Literacy (#T5S5)

At Roche dedicating 20% of time to learning changed the culture. There was a core idea of reimagined personal professional journeys and self authored growth that don’t follow traditional hierarchies.

The T model of knowledge evolving to the M model with a focus on your personal brand and goals so it is a worthwhile investment

Detlef Hold from Roche opening his session on self-directed learning by telling us about the beautiful country of Ecuador.

Now challenging us on the fact that we never have ‘time’ for learning? What exactly are we doing instead?

Being kept busy, not thinking about it as a topic,

We open the 25th edition of Learning Technologies with a question from our host Don Taylor - where do you WANT to see L&D in 5 years? Best answers (imho):

* Advances in technology making the admin and drudgery disappear
* Diversity, equity and inclusion woven through our systems

Next week I'll be part of a brilliant social media backchannel team at #LearningTechnologies.

I'll be live blueskying(?) from 4 sessions to share insights for people who aren't able to be there and hopefully spark some conversations. Hope you'll follow along 🤓

I don't agree with everything in this @financialtimes.com article, but the point of a diverse team being a positive indicator is important.

If everyone making it through your recruitment is from the same background, you are doing something wrong & missing out on brilliantly talented people.
