In an onsen you can relax and immerse yourself in a deep sense of peace, while waking up to the sensitivity of your body and perception compared to the outside world.
In my painting, men and women share the same water, whereas traditionally the two genders are separated.

The onsen (hot spring baths) are one of the aspects of Japanese culture I loved the most. I wanted to celebrate those places of peace and healing, as well as some wonderful people I met in Kyoto during my journey, who kindly gave me permission to portray them.

I can imagine it was no fun 🥲😰

Thank you! It was tricky but I’ve loved it. There were of course also some “mistakes” but they turned out to be useful for the final effect 🩵
