We have a full day to learn and explore today. Someone showed me buildermethods.com/agent-os and it really fits how I work: staged execution, fix and improve each phase, stay in control while it handles the heavy lifting.
Agent OS | The system for spec-driven development with AI coding agents
Agent OS is a popular system spec-driven development with AI coding agents. It's a free open-source framework from Builder Methods, created by Brian Casel.

Recently, I've started looking into architecture. Browsing the competition for the best building of 2025 is bringing me a lot of joy. Fun fact: I can't walk around Prague now because all I do is look at buildings. 😅

TIL UUID5 generates IDs deterministically. Knowing this before, would've saved us from a bit of over-engineering during tenant provisioning and merges.

PostgreSQL 18 is going to be huge. I'll try to monitor and later share how Async I/O helped us in production. Additionally, B-tree skip scans are something that could help us prevent some degradations we've seen in the past.

This is a really nice summary – I see it the same way. LLMs let me try different approaches more easily and work on multiple things at once, but they don't solve the core problem because I can only work once I know what I need to do. ordep.dev/posts/writin...
Writing Code Was Never The Bottleneck
LLMs make it easier to write code, but understanding, reviewing, and maintaining it still takes time, trust, and good judgment.

Working with agents in CLI is definitely my preferred way how to work on changes. I still love working in IntelliJ IDEA and I never wanted to adopt a different IDE. Now I see that others are jumping on the wagon. Today, there's cursor.com/cli.

TIL: After 15 years with Git, I finally learned about worktree. Why? Because trying to run multiple Claude sessions simultaneously and cloning the repo 3 times felt like really bad idea. 🤦 😅

I'm testing WisprFlow – wisprflow.ai for about a week now, and it's definitely a game changer for me. It helps me write prompts way more productively. Recognition works great, even in different languages. Definitely something I'll start paying for.

I'm testing o3 and o3-Pro with the same prompt to see if there's any extra value. So far, o3 seems good enough — the Pro responses don’t add much, even with the longer wait.

How it works for you?

I'm playing with Socratic-style prompt for learning I found in @mitsuhiko.at last article. So far I tested it with B-Tree and really enjoyed how it builds understanding step by step. Shame that switching to voice mode broke the flow in GPT.

Picked up some vibe-coding exercises around a topic that’s been on my mind for a while: being prepared for emergencies.

Before going further, I’d love to understand how others think about it, so put together a 1 minute survey – app.youform.com/forms/lr2toomb.

Thanks!

Katie Leonard (one of our eng managers) recently wrote a 🔥killer🔥 piece on the current obsession with cutting middle management in the name of "efficiency".

Cutting Middle Management Is Costing Your Capacity for Change
Over the last year, the tech industry has seen a wave of layoffs targeting middle management. Executives at companies like Meta, Shopify, and Amazon have framed this as a push toward efficiency.

This is a great high-level overview of what happened in the LLM world in 2024. It’s a huge and rapidly evolving field, so keeping up with all the news is almost impossible. I’ve been focusing mostly on coding models, so this has been especially helpful.

The LEGO app used to be one of my son’s favorites, but it’s now so slow it’s unusable on my iPad Pro 12.9-inch. It’s a reminder that performance needs ongoing care — small degradations can quietly pile up until users are frustrated and give up. Back to PDFs for us 🥲
