but sk8 rejects the Zone as being dangerous, that your way of winning would be at the expense of the rest of the world and your own humanity. So the MC wins by snapping out of it and remembering his real reason for skating and the friends he made along the way (and his dead dad 🥲)

in sports (and esports), people kinda have an objectifying admiration with the idea of "peak performance". Which in anime, usually culminates in players reaching a zone state with laser eyes that lets them shut out the rest of the world. Being in the zone is glorified as the "ideal"
