I was about the same age seeing it in the theatre as an aircraft-obsessed kid. The fire scene stays with me. Eventually going on to maintain a collection with the actual aircraft from the film was a treat though.

As many have stated pretty much commercials. Here in central Florida sometimes the network channels (ABC, NBC et al) would throw in a PSA like Schoolhouse rock or Hankerin' for a Hunk of Cheese. But for the most part just a block of commercials to fill in whatever gaps there were.

Yeah, of course this happens shortly after migrating to Proton. However this appears to be more a case of "one of our principals is an asshat and his comments don't reflect the views of the organization" for what it's worth. Looking hard at Tuta though, but Swiss privacy laws still govern Proton.
