Headline on the day after the 1884 election, Saint Paul Daily Globe, 11/5/1884. The NYT has nothing on this.

The glorious 1964 Illinois House of Representatives election. The state failed to redistrict so they elected everyone at large. How they did it led to the monstrous vote totals. Here is a sample ballot of it I got from my grandma that I uploaded to Wikipedia.

Saint Paul MN historic wards and which Census year they peaked in population. Yep, the 2020 numbers are accurate within a city block. Ward 8 has the * because it included Ward 12 before 1910. The downtown wards once had ~25k total living there.

Federal interstate plans for Matowa Minnesota. Every freeway planned was built, and then some. The results were catastrophic, as the city dropped from a high of 1.4 million in 1960 to just 607k in 2010.

The 1964 Minnesota State House election. While LBJ won 64% statewide, the DFL netted 0 seats. Their gains in cities and Central MN were stripped by losses in rural S MN and in Duluth. Added, a flip in 30E was overturned due to the candidate's fake news about the incumbent.

1918 Minneapolis Mayoral race. The incumbent Socialist mayor lost reelection but helped create a progressive coalition that Hubert Humphrey would later win with. Van Lear would help found the Farmer Labor Party which reshaped Minnesota.

Reposting here, this is the 1962 Minnesota legislative elections. There were nonpartisan ballots but it was a two horse race. The DFL won the governor's race with a tiny margin, but flopped in the malapportioned legislature. It was redistricted barely after 55 years in 1959 for 1962.
