But best of all was his respect for thirteen year old me, because I had been hard of hearing since age ten, while his significant hearing loss was new in his seventies.
He called me his coach and asked me questions. I loved mentored that rough looking, kind, genius artist and friend of my mother!

AND two big life size dolls in the windows. He had made and put them there "to guard the house" and I remember being fascinated by how well he did their hands. Have always felt one must make a big doll for safety since then.

This is a funny conversation. I became deaf at age ten around 1972 so my music repetoir consisted of the Beatles and Woody Guthrie. So band names are gibberish to me, out of my sphere. Learned my lesson assuming Japanese Breakfast was not about eating tofu in the morning, lol!
