Let's say I wrote a sci-fi series and it became beloved and then I came out as a racist so people wrote a race swapped fanfiction version, that would encourage me?

If I was writing fanfiction, but hated the person who started the series I was fanfiction-ing I should be able to say "I'm explicitly NOT supporting them" and then, for example write a version where Harry is trans.

Lately I'm over fantasy as a genre and I've always felt like the Harry Potter universe is hokey and full of internal inconsistencies, so it's easy for me to walk away from it. But I do think liking something doesn't necessarily mean supporting the creator of it.
