I’m not sure what to say. This is going to become more typical as the league pays players more starting next season. A lot of professional teams do this. This is the trade off for popularity and better player pay.

I’ll have to check out your story, but I think the main issue that is driving this is the unintended consequence of the nfl draft contract system. Every team feels their best chance to win is in the rookie contract (not even sure the data backs that up outside of Mahomes).
