PITCH: Benoit Blanc stumbles into a world that's all Muppets. They have a low stakes Muppet caper going on, which they try to involve him in, but he's too busy trying to wake up since he's certain their explanation--that the world was hit with a Muppetization ray--is absurd and he must be dreaming

Was that a hard no? It felt like a hard probably not with an opening for some future late night epiphany.

We can't win unless we change hearts and minds. Every system of power fights furiously to protect itself. There is no easy or obvious path forward. Upper dem leadership may not be trying, but people in the party absolutely are. I think they're playing a flawed game because they know the stakes/odds.

Maybe. I think it's naive to act like you're certain one way or another. I get where you're coming from, but really it's about leveraging public opinion to call democracy's bluff in whatever way proves most effective.

I prefer the DSA strategy of building power both outside and inside the democratic party. I actually don't think third party is viable in the US system. Making the dems more like Mamdani via populist insurgency might be.

I do not disagree. But in the past they've had to pretend harder or lose their jobs. Within that pretending, there was some meaningful harm reduction I thought was worth the trouble. They're not pretending at all right now, and it's time for them to go.

I won't vote Republican either. And I won't even abandon politics. Both are immature and irresponsible. But it's time to take the Democratic party back for the people and I think part of that means treating upper dem leadership as just as adversarial as Republicans to those objectives.

I no longer consider it worthwhile to support the current crop of Dem leadership in any manner whatsoever. They've shown how willing they are to sell out even their most popular policies at the behest of their donors. They're just less honest Republicans. America's done falling for it.

The democrats have the same donors as Republicans. It's just two ways of laundering the same priorities. I believe in harm reduction, and have justified my votes because even within those two methods, there can be important differences. But it's unforgivable to fold after last week's elections.

I voted in 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2020, 2022, 2024, and last Tuesday, primary and general. I researched local elections. I read about the issues and know my priorities. I vote Dems regularly as a lesser of two evils. I voted for Harris despite the genocide because I agree the stakes are high.

I will not vote for a democrat who doesn’t call for Schumer’s ouster as well as the removal of all dems who voted in favor of this. Ive voted for every dem in every election since I was 20 and I’m done. This is the thing. And I’m not alone. America does not believe you. We will primary you.

Please, I am begging you, lead a party revolt. We need them out. All of them. It's better to lose fighting than to cede all the ground unfought.
