it's when you're programming under the influence

back in college a classmate said he did some of his final assignments like that and he was surprised when they actually worked

at one point I tried using Pinta as a simpler alternative because I just want to do basic stuff and it has incredible UI issues like the anchor points when you draw a line change size based on zoom level

gonna start saying this is where it all began

I'm afraid you're over the ripe old age of 30 so you won't be a member of the party at all unless this is a pretty revolutionary JRPG

you're the old mentor or leader of the resistance

signed

someone also over the age of 30 who's just a random NPC in town who says "Axes are cool!"

Clearly it's a reference to the guild wars book, sea of sorrows.

"But he was just here. Alive." and "If you say 'two days maybe' it will be etched in her mind forever." are just so immensely powerful bits of writing.

I think consistently the hardest enemy for me is the slinky plant. A close second is the fly with a gun.

cinematic supers feels to me like an inability to have characters feel anything less than hypercompetent

this observation brought to you by someone annoyed at the Trails series for it, but it also is a thing in fighting games

I feel this is even more clear when you're running a magic build in DS1 and SPECIFICALLY in DS1: how many enemies do you want to remove from the equation? do you want to risk fighting them so you have more bullets for the boss?
December 10, 2025 at 2:14 PM
I actually feel like ER is less about the bosses than DS3 was because your options to deal with them are much stronger and you have much more to do. DS3 meanwhile is extremely linear and throws in what would be a lower health version of a final boss as its tutorial boss.

that you're hardly ever approaching a Fae from the south, because your gun that always shoots north would put a reticle on a hostile Fae but not on a friendly Fae

the Fae don't even attack people in town so they're mostly friendly, you just attack any Fae that doesn't want to chat 2/2
