Chinese company releases a cheaper car; major blow to US oil & gas industry
Woo there is so much schadenfreude thirst out there that if you invented a faster cheaper form of electricity people would cheer “this is terrible for Silicon Valley!”

Its odd waking up to R1's release being presented as a blow to the tech industry, when the sentiment seemed much different in smaller circles a week ago
I am not an expert in the stock market but the DeepSeek panic feels more like stock investors suddenly realizing they’ve put too many eggs in one basket than everyone recognition that R1 is technically better than US-made Nvidia-trained closed models

It also feels a little too engineered

The fight against offshore wind is one of the most insane things I think I've ever seen. Untapped clean energy just blowing around, out in a useless nowhere.
Trump: There's an energy emergency! We're producing more oil & gas than ever & drillers don't want to drill more. Meanwhile, we're experiencing rapid electricity demand growth. A crisis! So... Let's block the cheapest, fastest way to add new electricity supply to US grids (wind, solar, batteries).🤔🤷‍♂️

everyone on the decentralized social media platform is mad that the contents of the decentralized social media platform were easily accessible for all to use, not locked down and controlled by a single organization, created by a team with an explicitly stated goal of decentralized development?
