well, once we broke the RS-232 barrier, we should have been able to advance — but development was stifled by those who did not think we were ready for the mainframe. However, we surpassed them and formed a different type of network—one that needed no mainframe, where power was shared by all.

I would prefer they name them: USB-1701, USB-1701A, USB-1701B, and so on. Some people would wax nostalgic over USB -1701D, while others would talk about the unrealized potential of USB-1701C...

...and the funniest thing is that the "U" in "USB" stands for "Universal." Different universes, I suppose? Sort of like how DC Comics handles reality?
