I think a lot about how fast smartphone tech evolved, matured and now seems stagnant in many ways, but it simultaneously feels wild that we are a year away from the 20th anniversary of the iPhone reveal.

I got to see the remaster in an IMAX theatre last year with a bunch of first timers. The defibrillator scene was one of the best theatre reactions I’ve ever experienced: groans followed by uproarious laughter.

I was at the Rays series to close out the season. Hadn’t been there since the last round of renovations and was surprised at how much not a dump it is.

Where I will agree with him is that the city will probably get some of this wrong! The difference is I think that’s a worthwhile trade off to doing nothing. This scale of development is hard! It’s easy to do nothing! NIMBYism is cowardice manifest. Fear of change, fear of others. Sad little people!

These people are not serious. Cities must be ushered by people who want to live in them. Change is inevitable and healthy. It’s also exciting! Look at the proposal! This is empty space! Reframing what land is in a dishonest way is not a productive and I don’t think it resonates with most people.

Calling this space the “cultural heart” of Edmonton and “last vestige of cultural heritage and gathering site” is so fucking funny. Of course parking is brought up eight times and somehow building more places for people to live is “to the detriment of its citizens.”
