Last week, I hired someone to work in my department. Her start date was supposed to be this coming Monday, but she had doubts about the position after reading through the employee handbook. We chatted about it over the phone for a bit, but she seemed pretty set on turning back.

It's been a while since I've had a night to just decompress and play a few games of #chess. It's crazy how even a short break affects my sharpness. I feel like I'm not as solid as I was just a few months ago, but I've gotten good results tonight regardless. 4/4 today seems like a good place to stop.

Bad Movie Reviews: The Lawnmower Man (1992). Brett Leonard directed this marvel of early 90s cinema. Boy, did we think VR was gonna be something huge 30 years ago. I've always thought Keanu Reeves was in this for some reason, but no, the film stars Pierce Brosnan and Jeff Fahey.

I've seen Rush in concert five or six times over the years, likely more than any other major musical act. I have conflicting feelings about the reunion with Anika Nilles stepping in on drums to replace Neil Peart.

The new season of Futurama has no real emotional weight and lacks much of the cleverness of past iterations. The series has had three very good finales, but the Hulu revival has added little, perhaps even detracted, to the series' legacy. It's just disappointing to this long-time fan.

I wish I could be excited about Tron: Ares. I liked Tron: Legacy quite a bit and was holding out hope that we'd get a continuation of that story on the big screen.

Just saw the teaser trailer for the upcoming Bruce Springsteen biopic. It feels weird to me to tell these stories while artists are still alive, but the longer they're gone, the more removed from public consciousness they are. That makes sense, I guess. I'm not the target demographic.

I finished The Fractured But Whole last night. It was fun, easy enough to put down and come back to after a few days, and it felt more like a four episode special than The Stick of Truth.

I finished The Fractured But Whole last night. It was fun, easy enough to put down and come back to after a few days, and it felt more like a four episode special than The Stick of Truth.
When I finished Final Fantasy X, I figured I'd jump right into FFX/2, but my enthusiasm just wasn't there after the little introduction scene to start the game. I picked The Fractured But Whole up instead and have enjoyed the game so far. The Stick of Truth is an all-time favorite.

I started a new job last month. It's been pretty solid so far. The shine hasn't worn off, and no skeletons have fallen out of any closets yet. I've not adjusted to the new schedule. I'm staying awake too late and getting up too early. So sleepy all the time.

I finished Final Fantasy X HD Remaster last night and have conflicting thoughts about it. If I had played the game when originally released in the early 2000s, I'd probably rate this version more highly and might even consider it one of the best games ever made. It probably was when it came out.

I've been to a few major retailers looking for business casual outfits and some new jeans recently. I don't like Hawaiian or golf shirts. I haven't bought much.

Just grabbed a pair of Vans on super clearance during their Labor Day sale. I really wanted a pair of Old Skool's in pewter, but I didn't see them on the site! Bummer. Still, the browns I grabbed are sharp and were like 50% off retail.

Final Fantasy X is pretty great. The story keeps adding little turns the further I get into the game, and while some things are a bit predictable, there have been quite a few surprises that have been most welcome. The combat system, though, is the real standout to me.

At two very important moments in my Final Fantasy X playthrough, the screen has gone completely green during a cutscene. The first was at the Farplane, and the second was at the launch of the airship. What a bummer.

I finally got my first Final Fantasy X game over screen. It was starting to feel like I wasn't going to need to grind, but yeah, I felt outclassed during the first fight with Seymour. I've done really well to avoid spoilers, but there was no question he was a baddie right from the start.

Having John DiMaggio voice a Pacific Islander-inspired character was an interesting choice. I hear Bender doing a funny accent whenever Wakka speaks, and boy, does he speak a lot in Final Fantasy X.

In my Final Fantasy X playthrough, I was not going to lose my first game of Blitzball. I started, restarted and started the game over and over again until I finally figured out how to cheese it well enough to sneak a goal and win the game 1-0 in double overtime.

I picked up Final Fantasy X/X-2 for dirt cheap during the Summer Steam Sale and have decided to give it a go. I've played a ton of FF games but never a mainline game after VI. I'm about two hours in, and I guess everyone in this world can just breathe underwater?

The new season of King of the Hill is fantastic. There's really no other way to describe it. It might just be the best reboot of an animated show ever.

The world really was a better place when @teamfourstar.bsky.social were still making DBZ: Abridged. I'm not blaming them for the state of things, but life would be 2% more bearable if they continued making the best thing ever.
