I'm a contributing restaurant critic for The New York Times! I also run www.thelotimes.com, a food media newsletter! Previously, I was a food critic at Eater and Bloomberg.
Also this week's column has fun review of See No Evil which is a pretty fun hang for pizza and pét-nat in a Midtown subway station (the pies are...fine) www.thelotimes.com/p/times-squa...

I wrote a long review of a truly tremendous new taqueria. It's called Santo Taco and it's in the old La Esquina space! Just take a look at this super thin steak taco!! www.thelotimes.com/p/santo-taco...

dear journalists: sometimes, the passive voice headline style, where the subject is omitted, does not work. this is one of those times.

A lot of cool sh!t in today’s column! A critique of Midtown’s “Steakhouse Alley," some meaty skewer reviews, my favorite strawberry ice cream (at Rule of Thirds), and some thoughts on gender and masculinity in Amy Sherald’s portraits www.thelotimes.com/p/best-meat-...

Just as we re-review restaurants, its important to re-review edibles as they change. So here's my Second Sutton Take on Sundae School, a Korean American brand with some cool new flavors like matcha, golden pear, and kimchi yuzu www.thelotimes.com/p/golden-hof...

Also, I re-reviewed Sundae School's Korean American gummies. New flavors include kimchi yuzu and matcha!

P.S. That's how normal and sane people eat pizza lol www.thelotimes.com/p/golden-hof...

"Last year, Mr. Taal was among a group of pro-Palestinian activists who shut down a career fair on the Cornell campus that featured weapons manufacturers."

ICE wants him to turn himself in. This is where we're at. www.nytimes.com/2025/03/21/u...

Also lobster prices are going up due to smaller catches in Maine and rising international demand (especially from China and Vietnam), which explains in part why we’re seeing a $50 lobster roll (after tax and tip) even from Red Lobster.

The Red Lobster lobster roll isn't v good

I wrote about trying to live well while unemployed, something a few of us are getting a crash course in as Trump and Elon Musk continue their mass purge of the federal workforce www.thelotimes.com/p/kabawa-bar...

I wrote about the graphic depiction of a slaughtered cow and beef in Francis Bacon’s “Painting.” It’s understood to be a criticism of Chamberlain, who pursued a policy of appeasement with Hitler. But the work takes on new relevance in an era of Trump and Putin www.thelotimes.com/p/monkey-bar...
