Uh oh, here comes Mayor Eleanor Holmes Norton

She can't collect until she's 62. It's based on her salary, but I don't know the formula

Surprised you aren't a fan of Ulm

She's resigning a day after she fully vests her congressional pension, and with enough time to jump into the Georgia Gubernatorial race imo.

She went on about how broken Washington is and how she wants to be back with her people at home.

Their platform changed from good governance to NIMBY reactionaries, trying to undo a zoning reform that increased density and had a very loud minority that dominated the local political class/reporters, but largely unbothered the electorate.

They supported some who had been in the old Dem party from 20 years ago with name recognition (Cole & Driehaus mainly).

The Charter Committee used to stand for supporting/updating the City Charter for good governance. Then a Republican who lost his race after being appointed by a Republican judge during a scandal that ousted 3 Dems took over the organization to hide as a Republicans under a more palatable banner.

Cincy politics used to be really weird. We regularly elected third party candidates from the "Charter Committee", which was unique to Cincy.

We also saw Republicans and official independents make it to council.

I thought I saw that no team would have 3 home games in a row or 3 road games in a row? Wouldn't that mean Minnesota will host games in December and February? Where are you getting the November 20 - March 20 figure? They already host games in February under the current system
November 13, 2025 at 10:11 PM
yeah it's tough either way you run it. November and early December is generally doable across the MLS markets (there will be more below freezing games though). January and February are by far the worst, but MLS already starts in mid-late Feb. I'm cautiously optimistic, but could also see it blow up.

This would also open up Las Vegas and Phoenix as potential MLS cities. The summer schedule would currently be pretty limiting there, since they'd be forced to play all night games in summer to avoid the extreme heat.

MLS Cup is currently December 6, so this really only adds like 2 home games in cold months per team, as the schedule currently starts February 22 anyway. Maybe shifting a February game to August and starting the season a week earlier instead of another Wednesday game.

I'm cautiously optimistic

Here's a sample schedule (unofficial) for 2024-25 following FIFA breaks and having a winter break.

I would suggest removing the first two games in February and adding one game at the end of December and one more Wednesday game.

Then guarantee the first two games in Feb aren't in MN, CHI, NE, KC.
