ex-vangelical pastor just trying to do better for his family
So can I call him Pope Nardo or nah?
May 9, 2025 at 11:16 PM
People keep talking about the Pope wearing a dress, changing his name, etc. But that sorta implies you have to be wealthy and powerful to do that.

My daughter sometimes decides to wear a cape and answer only to "Super-Lyddie" and everyone just goes with that too.

Anyone you don't hate can.

Fun Game: Ask the Magats in your life if they actually support the tariffs. They will hint, imply. But explicitly :

"Do you actually support these and think they are a good idea? If Trump withdraws them will you be against that?"

They can't answer it. They know they have to agree either way.

I'm warming up to some of the new rhetoric out of the right "Losing money is no big deal" and "No Pain No Gain" and "Long Term is better than short term"

They're wrong of course, but we need to be saving these tweets. Because everything they did to themselves is what we do to the billionaires
April 7, 2025 at 4:44 AM
Sane Americans didn't show up at the ballot box this year. Now it seems the hope is they'll show up & economically disincentivize fascism.

I'm not saying it won't work. But if "low information voters" somehow are high information consumers... It'll mean somehow the 2024 election was rigged.

I'm actually fine if National Parks Close. Conservation is different from Preservation.

Close all the doors. Preserve the land. Let it rest. Protect it. Block drilling or mining. Those would take resources you've been denied.

Keep it safe for a few years until we are ready to conserve again.

It's not that Trump is Putin's puppet.

Both Trump and Putin are puppeteered by the same billionaire oligarchs.

Trump didn't "turn on" Ukraine. Oligarchs used Trump to seize control of our government and orchestrate it because they want the minerals and gas.

Trump and Putin are distractions.

I'm getting new follows every day but nobody is reacting to, or apparently even reading my actual posts.

Is this normal? Is this how we do things here?

I get that my posts aren't that great but neither am I, as a person, if we're being honest.

I'm antifascist though, I guess that's something.

Alright I am making progress on Kendrick. Drake represents an ideal, a certain type of rapper and black performer who caters to a white audience, as opposed to authenticity represented by Kendrick.

Kendrick brings together the crips and bloods, the red and the blue, to resist this other thing.
February 15, 2025 at 2:31 AM
I still don't "get" Kendrick's performance. I know I'm a white guy and I am telling on myself by not getting it, but I wanna do better. Someone help?

It's all code but code for what? Uncle Toms are bad & Drake's a pedophile? US is divided?

Why would that need to be coded? Seems... not that deep.

(4/3) Ironically, now citing many bogus sources is a great strategy for BS, it has become much harder to check sources than it is to find them, which inverts the whole point of asking in the first place!

All asking ever did was invert the BS asymmetry principle. It doesn't anymore.
February 13, 2025 at 5:49 AM
(3/3) Citations used to be OP but they got nerfed. We need to change the meta to account for this.

All "I have a source" means is someone else made the same claim.

Is the reasoning in the source good? Can you make that reasoning yourself? Then I don't care about your source.

Present your case!
February 13, 2025 at 5:42 AM
(2/3)...But nowadays you can find a source for anything in a few seconds.

Nevertheless we are all accustomed to taking anyone with a source seriously, as if they were an honest person, or minimally a committed liar.

We forgot what asking for sources was good for in the first place...
February 13, 2025 at 5:38 AM
(1/3) Asking for sources is an outdated BS avoidance strat.

Long ago if someone was lying & had a source, it minimally proved they were committed to the lie, they had been to a library, they had read several books, they found a quote.

And that was enough to root out like 99% of the BS...

One insidious aspect of the Right Wing mantra that Nazis are socialists is that it erases Martin Niemöller's famous poem.

"First they came for the socialists..."

It's holocaust denial with plausible deniability. They don't want us to speak up for others like Martin told us to

Interesting point, but I wonder if it's pushing in the wrong direction. We've spent a decade not believing him. Maybe it is time to yes believe him and get ready. War against Canada is not impossible. Not in this crazy timeline. $0 income tax. Robot Police...
Opinion | Don’t Believe Him
Look closely at the first two weeks of Donald Trump’s second term and you’ll see something very different than what he wants you to see.

Look all I'm saying is 2020 was easily the worst year of my life, and people voted to have that again. People are really dumb.

What are you doing to prepare for 2024? The sequel always goes bigger, and I doubt it will be a pandemic this time, something else. Famine maybe. Or war
February 5, 2025 at 7:33 PM
It turns out there is not a plastic island in the middle of the ocean. There's just like, more microplastics on average, it's still water. You could swim through it.

But I thought there was, and I was sad about it, but like, what was I gonna do?

Feels like a lot of things are like that...

Conservatives are taking the hoods off with regard to the 7 Mountain Mandate. The idea that God has told them to go and control every aspect of society, not just churches.

It's the kind of thing that has been the quiet part for a long time, but they are saying it out loud now.
February 2, 2025 at 3:24 PM
Increasingly I realize that my political position has long been "antifascist".

I'm not really a democrat, and never have been. I vote democrat because I'm against fascism and they are significantly less fascist than the alternative.

But really I want even less military and bureaucracy than that
February 2, 2025 at 3:21 PM
Tariffs are taxes. I think a lot of the discourse is missing that. Yes, prices will go up, but that difference will go to the government. Mostly to the military.

This isn't just Trump idiotically raising prices for no reason, this is also him raising taxes to fund some other BS he has planned.

2nd thing about Ordo Amoris: It's not totally wrong.

The basic idea is: it's okay to love donuts but we shouldn't love them too much or we will get fat. That's true

What it is being used as (politically) is that we should love people from our own country more than other countries. This is wrong,
February 1, 2025 at 5:36 PM
1st thing to know about Ordo Amoris: It's obscure. It's real, Augustine and Aquinas talk about it, it isn't one of their most important ideas.

As a pastor & scholar, studying the Bible, but not medieval Catholicism, I never came across it until now.

Cuz it's not a very good or significant idea
February 1, 2025 at 5:34 PM
Alright, so we need to talk about Ordo Amoris now. More reasons why theologians need to be involved politically, because if we do not, the politicians will just steamroll us and define our theological statements...
