It was this article. The materials linked in it still exist in the Archives, at least. But the loss of the article makes it harder for people to find, and know, the story. I'm not clear why this piece is gone, when other articles in the Rediscovering Black History portal are still there, though.

More recently, Stephen B. Katz powerfully examined a World War II-era memo in which a Nazi clinically suggests improvements to the gassing vans used to exterminate Jews and others deemed undesirable. The document, which refers to the panicking victims as "merchandise," is stomach-turning.
