Big Apple Comic-Con sketch round up
November 23, 2025 at 4:06 AM
Big apple Comic con bound!
Decided not to wear the suit at the last minute. Bringing an old friend instead.
November 22, 2025 at 2:30 PM
I'm also bringing these ridiculous/awesome beauties with me - custom made combo packs of an original sketch cover (drawn by me) + real action figure - and yes, they're for sale!

Never forgive, never forget.

Looking like Funko is finally going out of bizness.
These are the only Funko pops that have ever been in my house. Older kid bought the Twinkie as a goof (but I kind of love it?). Sentry and Cupcake were freebies.
I will NOT miss seeing them at comic-cons.
Good riddance, cursed nerd totem company.
November 20, 2025 at 4:40 PM
I'm also bringing the last few copies of many of my graphic novels: Action Presidents, Comic Book History of Comics, MODOK. I have maybe 2-5 copies of each. It might be the last chance you can get these books from me in person!

Come see me at the Big Apple Con this Saturday Nov 22nd at the New Yorker Hotel - it's my last con of the year! I will be giving away all my remaining art prints (including these) - hoping to clear everything out before 2026. bigapplecc.com

HEY if any of my artist pals are tabling or signing at @emeraldcitycon.bsky.social 2026 - I'm helping them put together a charity anthology 'zine and we're looking for contributors! Drop me a line for details (but ONLY if you definitely have a spot at the convention).

Post your favorite Star Trek character. Wrong answers only.

The kit came out in 1979 and Stevens was born in 1955 - even adding in product development time he was at least 20. One of his family members wrote me when this article first came out to confirm he had done the art, but they didn't learn about it until 2020. Those hero faces are 100% Stevens:

Oh and I used to leave the room for all the wicked witch scenes in Wizard of Oz until I was, like, 10 years old. (I actually liked the flying monkeys).
November 16, 2025 at 4:30 AM
(both of these scenes were legit scary though)

Look how "happy" I am.
I am largely indifferent to celebrities. I know people don't like Leto, I've heard he's done creepy stuff, but don't know the details.
In the moment, he seemed fine. It was nice he showed up and got people excited. I clapped to be polite, and I genuinely liked the movie.

NEXT SATURDAY, Nov 22 I will be a guest at BIG APPLE COMIC-CON, held at the swanky New Yorker Hotel. I'm breaking out my fancy plaid suit for this one! Imagine getting a commission from THIS GUY:

Retailer Incentive Variant Cover for THE COMIC BOOK HISTORY OF ANIMATION #5 (IDW, April 2021)
My favorite thing about this cover is I got away with drawing EIGHT different trademarked properties on it and the publisher absolutely did not have the license for any of them.

All the neighborhood kids had intense debates over wtf was happening with that ending - I just liked all the robots, the cool double barreled laser guns and that awesome giant fireball
My brother inexplicably had EVERY printed media of The Black Hole: pop-up, story book, coloring book, comic, etc

I clearly said "not without their charms"

I loved the shit out Star Wars when it came out. I was 6 years old. After that I was a total mark for anything sci-fi so I saw all of these between the releases of Star Wars and Empire. They were not without their charms, but even as a little kid I was bored.
