A few reviews have called out some of the scenes in which said theme plays as the film’s emotional highlights. I would add that this scoring choice is what makes those moments all the more surprising and touching for people who think they already know this material beat by beat (🙋♂️)

One sneaks in to almost comical effect as Galinda becomes Glinda, but another turns what is, in the show, a nice but otherwise isolated number into a poignant leitmotif.
