Personal favs? I really loved the Portland Sea Dogs—the stadium and vibe were pretty spectacular

My UIUC job talk back in 2021 literally included this slide about the interface I hoped to build for browsing Viral Texts data & it’s actually on the horizon!
Right now Dan is fighting against several things to get this public-ready, including the increasing unreliability of the Chronicling America interface over the past 11 months—wonder why that might be?—but this work is remarkable—it will make our data so much more accessible to periodicals scholars!

As @djevans.bsky.social was demoing it I was giddy—it’s the dream I’ve had for this data for probably 8 years now—that someone would be able to flip through digitized newspaper pages & see in front of them how all these texts link—both historically & through our data—to texts in other newspapers
