Storefront and workshop of Yoshimari Mitsuboshi in Kōya-san, Japan.

Each piece is hand thrown and fired in a pit kiln using wood collected from the surrounding sacred forest. The glaze is tinted and peppered with ash from previous firings.

Sharing the wagatabon tray I made during my woodworking residency in #Japan

Wagatabon originates from the 17th century in Wagatani village where roof shingle makers would cleave chestnut logs and keep the best pieces to carve trays in winter to trade for other goods
