Imagine a future where a surgeon can press “print” in the OR and get complex living tissues on demand… 🧪

In my PhD work with John P Fisher we are integrating AIs into bioprinters that help improve their performance - striving to make our healthcare vision into a reality.

Wow, this took me back! Can’t tell you how many hours I spent on DK Dinosaur Hunter (a lot), but it definitely helped kickstart my scientific curiosity at a young age.
The next gen of scientists absolutely needs games like these!
Where are my DK Dinosaur Hunters at?! This game immersed me into a world as a kid (7 yr), and now is my career (36 yr)! I took the audio from the game and meshed it to our Dino Hall at ANSP. I need this game revamped for the new generation.

Invasion of the ‘journal snatchers’: the firms that buy science publications and turn them rogue
Study finds dozens of journals that have hiked their fees and started churning out papers after being acquired by small, recently formed companies.

Happy to see the 'Mathematical and Statistical Modeling Education Act' introduced on the house floor.

Educational initiatives like these that enhance the scientific literacy and competitiveness of our country are greatly needed!

Glad to see these responsible scientific leaders doing what they can to soften the blow to science in these times.
I never imagined that I’d ever see anything like this. Given the current state of politics in the US, I need to stretch my imagination well-beyond anywhere it’s been before. 🧪

Discover how microglial responses to Aβ immunization aid Alzheimer's clearance! Key insights via spatial transcriptomics. #AlzheimersResearch PMID:40050704, Nat Med 2025, @NatureMedicine https://doi.org/10.1038/s41591-025-03574-1 #Medsky 🧪
Microglial mechanisms drive amyloid-β clearance in immunized patients with Alzheimer’s disease | Nature Medicine
Alzheimer’s disease (AD) therapies utilizing amyloid-β (Aβ) immunization have shown potential in clinical trials. Yet, the mechanisms driving Aβ clearance in the immunized AD brain remain unclear. Here, we use spatial transcriptomics to explore the effects of both active and passive Aβ immunization in the AD brain. We compare actively immunized patients with AD with nonimmunized patients with AD and neurologically healthy controls, identifying distinct microglial states associated with Aβ clearance. Using high-resolution spatial transcriptomics alongside single-cell RNA sequencing, we delve deeper into the transcriptional pathways involved in Aβ removal after lecanemab treatment. We uncover spatially distinct microglial responses that vary by brain region. Our analysis reveals upregulation of the triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 2 (TREM2) and apolipoprotein E (APOE) in microglia across immunization approaches, which correlate positively with antibody responses and Aβ remo
