I made an introductory How-To for mixing and navigating the color wheel with acrylic paints! I designed it for absolute beginners but it is also a project that I find useful for practicing my color mixtures and testing palettes. #arttutorial #painting #colortheory

New color wheel chart I’m playing with inspired by the Cavallini Chromatic Scale poster I’ve seen floating around on the internet.

Trying to think of how I can incorporate tints and tones into this design.

I took last week off to spend time with my family and it was great! Now I am getting back into the studio and it can be hard to start. So, I’m doing a bit of a color study with my CMY palette by painting a color wheel on a canvas panel.

Sold my first original painting! (Untitled Voice, acrylic on canvas.)

It's been a rough couple of years to say the least but mile stones like this help me know I am on the right path for myself and my family. The horrors persist but so do I.

Finished part two of my Koi fish painting where I revisit the Art Academy (Nintendo 3DS) lesson but this time I did my own study and used the tutorial as more of a guideline.

I like how this one came out a lot more.

Finished my Koi Fish Part 1 acrylic painting.

I'm working on a video comparing lessons and skills learned in Art Academy to real world materials. This is the result of following the lesson as close as possible. The next painting I'll do will be of the same subject but free to mix my own colors.

Got a new light for my easel and it really did help me be able to see the different colors and tones in my work much better than before.

Probably not a project for this week (working on two koi fish paintings and a video) but my canvas stretcher bars came in!

15” and 20” and enough to make 3 canvases. These are reserved for my void painting actual series and requires I wrap raw canvas to prime myself.

Ground stage done and the ripped masking tape came out exactly as I had hoped it would.

Still need to find a cheap lighting solution because this room EATS light and these photos do NOT show how dark the painting looks in that room.

Prepping my canvas panel and decided I wanted to try a more textured edge by ripping the tape. Not sure how it will come out but I’m excited for the results regardless!

Rebuilding my studio/battle jacket starting with this enamel pin on the left chest pocket (over my heart).

Originally I wasn’t going to share this piece I made in November of last year but after these past couple weeks I feel it’s… appropriate.

Mental Health, acrylic on canvas, 12 x 12 inches.

Made 5 posts over on Tumblr. So far, the platform has been fairly active and engaging with my work. Doubly so when utilizing communities.

I'm continuing to explore the feeling of returning to
one's home town after being gone for many years to
find that they cannot fit in the same whole they had left
behind. The town had moved past and around it and
the one returning has grown and changed too much to
fill it.

That’s the intent anyway. I feel like it came across better in my first rendition (attached).

In future, I think I might build my own canvas, mask where want the void so it’s just raw, unprimed canvas surrounded by a painting.

Today’s big focus is finishing this piece. I just need to flesh out the foreground building, plants, and add a pedestrian or two.

Cherry, digital (made on 3DS)

I've been running through Art Academy: Lessons for Everyone as research for a video series I want to do on it. Figured I'd share the results of the lessons on my first run-through.

Getting some new followers here on Bluesky so I just wanted to (re)introduce myself:
