There have been a few in my TikTok feed. 1 guy tried fasting for 40 days to treat his stage IV colon cancer. I hurt for them. Sadly, desperation plays a role too.

Very interesting though that none (unintentional group) experienced serious effects-especially with what we used to consider such a toxic medication.

Excellent study! I haven’t had access to Poisindex in over 2 years, but I seem to recall case reports of serious toxicity in a couple of children < 2 years of age. It looks like the children in this study were all over 4.

This is just insane. Our daughter saw her pediatric pulmonologist today who said they had seen several mild asthmatics require intubation from Flu A this season.

In the end, I think that it is part of the expansion of the “alternative” treatment movement that predates Covid. I do think the Covid pandemic helped accelerate it primarily by showing how much money it could generate. There won’t be any legit studies cited.

Yeah, our Legislature just introduced a bill to make it OTC. Although it has essentially been OTC for years. I never understood the rationale that the answer for a pandemic and cancer is available for 10 dollars at the local farm store. Life just doesn’t work that way.

I think it had several qualities that made it appealing to grifters. It was cheap, widely available and had somewhat of a wide safety profile. If I recall correctly, there were attempts at other drugs early on such as hydroxychloroquine. Also, colchicine but they wisely backed off that one quickly

I hate this. This was a bright spot for WV—historically we have had one of the strongest childhood vaccine requirements in the nation.

This is about an hour away from me. We also had a nurse give her husband vecuronium and set their house on fire about 20 years ago. Just a disclaimer-I wasn’t contacted or involved in either case.

My old medical director is one of the co-authors with you on that! I think it only worked for EG, but it is a shame a variant of the 30-40 dollar veterinary test was never developed for bedside use.

@ryanmarino.bsky.social If 1.5 mg/L is the LOAEL then wouldn’t .7 mg/L be rather high to assume as the NOAEL? I definitely agree that the risks of tooth decay are often not fully explained or appreciated.

We drive about 4 hours to see specialists for our daughter. There is one that is 2 hours away but doesn’t have openings for 2+ years.

That was an excellent discussion. I attended a conference around 2008 and Dr. Alan Ducatman was a speaker. He touched on the C8 issue as he was one of the toxicologists involved early on.

I have searched and searched but cannot find anything. I didn’t realize the American College of Toxicology met last week. I thought it may have been a study from NAACT but seems to be more focused on the cellular level.
