The left, and America more generally, needs to grapple with the fact that states and borders are only used to restrict the free movement of poor folks. There is no meaningful concept of a border for capital. We should reject borders as weapons in the class war.

I always thought the deriding of the Soviet gerontocracy in the US was highlight that no functioning democracy would ever choose such decrepit leaders. And rather than reflecting on our own gerontocracy, now we are making excuses for why our lack of democracy is good and necessary.

Watching Dems in congress go all out to dismantle the asylum system so they can declare victory on their top priority of funding two unpopular wars is one of those things I really have no idea how we come back from it. They know we see what is happening, right?
