Because context matters:

Trump "focuses his ire almost exclusively on large blue cities in blue states, sidestepping political conflict with red Republican governors." @us.theguardian.com 👇

Big parrot party this morning. Love seeing these squawkers all over the SGV.

Strong contender for L.A. headline of the year.

Also epitomizes the state of street safety in the city / county.

A nice little girl at the park gave us flowers even though this turd yelled at her ☺️

Well this sucks.

Red flag on wheels (a specific red flag too).

🚲 UPDATE: We rode the full bike route this morning from Citrus Ave. to Irwindale Ave.

Gets a little hairy when the path spits you out on busy Arrow Highway just east of Azusa Ave., then you have about a mile of on-street bike lanes to the second wash segment. Took 15 minutes end-to-end.

2) There’s another wash segment to the east. Starts at Citrus (in blue) and ends at Arrow Highway east of Azusa Ave. You have to take a street-level bike lane (in green) along Arrow for about half a mile, then turn south on Lark Ellen for another ½ mile to reach the western segment (also blue).

The face of someone who wanted more bikeway. It only took us six minutes at a leisurely pace.

Felt more like the Little Dalton Wash bikeway. The calm, car-free space ends at Irwindale Ave. where this sign reminds cyclists and pedestrians of their place in the public space hierarchy.
June 22, 2025 at 9:01 PM
Quiet morning. No other cyclists but there were several people walking, some with pups.
June 22, 2025 at 9:01 PM
There’s a little repair station as you enter / exit with some tools and an air pump, plus some bike racks and a trash can.

Had to bring my little co-pilot 🙂 Started at Lark Ellen Ave. on the Covina / Vincent border.

🚲 THREAD: Finally had a chance to check out the Big Dalton Wash bikeway, a small piece of the planned 130-mile SGV Greenway Network.

When you're right, you're right.

New from my colleagues Richard Winton and Libor Jany:

Secret recordings reveal LAPD cops spewing racist, sexist and homophobic comments, according to a complaint filed with the LAPD.

I spoke with Ben this week. He feels angry, betrayed and reduced to “a pawn in this political game.”

He also worries what will happen to Los Padres and other U.S. public lands with thousands fewer people monitoring and managing forests to reduce the risk of fires, landslides and other hazards.

As for the claim that the program is hurting business?

Early data suggests the opposite.
