They get away with it because to some folks even the free tier seems like a magic trick.

The problem is that those people will never pay for it anyhow.

In the meantime, their ideal users leave to seek out actual quality.

I know that a lot of people don’t, and that’s a fair position.

I think that when you strip away the hype and the rhetoric around AI products, it becomes clearer that they are just that - tools.

I’ll also add that I’ve found that having that discussion in Claude with Opus 4.5/6, with the ability to share screenshots for better description, has made a huge difference in both speed and accuracy in my dev process.
