One of the yellow flowers lingering into winter is the Perennial Sow-thistle and here is some detail of a flower from yesterday.
They offer a late supply of pollen and nectar for flies including a few hoverflies.

Looking at the last flowers of Red Campion today and this little bug appeared.
It is Dicyphus globulifer, a species found on Red and White Campion throughout Britain.

A Common Redshank catching a Ragworm today in the saltmarsh Rye Harbour. It caught 9 of these in about 5 minutes!

A fishing Spotted Redshank today Rye Harbour at the west end of the Salt Pool. It caught 2 fish in 5 minutes, but sadly not in this video.

A close view of a drake Shoveler today that shows the structure of its bill. Their wide flat bill is equipped with lamellae – small, comb-like structures on the edge of the bill that act like a sieve, allowing the birds to strain plankton from the water.

It's spread by the wind.
It's a grass that can grow 2 metres tall.
It's the main winter food of Bearded Tits.
